Dear friends,
This is to inform you that our yacht Beluga will be taken to dry dock
from 30 July to 5 November, 2010 for a major refit and total renovation
as per description below.
-In addition to the new electronically injected Scania diesel engines
installed last year, we are also happy to announce that after 15
successful years of operation, our First Class Superior 16-passenger
yacht Beluga will undergo an interior renovation apart from the regular
maintenance and general overhaul that we carry out annually on our two
boats. The main aspects of this refit will include:
- Remodelling of the interior of the boat such as: complete new rugs,
change of walls, bar, furniture where applicable and fixtures.
- Cabins 6 and 7 that used to have upper/lower berths will be totally
rebuilt to provide lower accommodation, 2 twin beds that can be drawn
together as a double bed if necessary.
- The beds in cabin 8 will be replaced to offer more comfortable wider
accommodation in 2 twin lower beds.
- Installation of a sewage treatment plant.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions

We are planning a major refit for Beluga this year which will include remodelling the whole interior of the boat in addition to the routine changes and repairs carried out during regular maintenance. You will notice the exact dry dock dates, scheduled for the months of August, September and October, on our regular availability updates or going to the online availability section on our website.

October, 2009
Our Motor Yacht Beluga was taken to dry dock this past September. During
this annual maintenance we replaced the main engines with brand new Scania engines model DI12M. This is a great asset to the boat as these electronically injected diesel engines are more ecologically friendly and reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Additionally, this change allows us to waive the surcharge we have been forced to apply since June 2008 due to the elimination of the subsidy on fuel by local authorities.
We expect this effort will help us improve the quality of our service.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions
December, 2008
Dear Friends,
We are happy to announce that our boats Beluga and Cachalote I have just been awarded "Smart Voyager Certification", a sustainable tourism certification programme in the Galapagos Islands, as a result of our commitment to environmental care and high conservation standards.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions

Dear Friends,
Based on the notification recently received from official sources, the Ecuadorian government has decided to abolish the subsidy they have been giving certain categories of fuel which affects the price of diesel used by the majority of tour boats in Galapagos, and whose monthly consumption exceeds certain range.
As many other tour companies and airlines around the world, we will unfortunately be forced to implement a fuel surcharge to be added to the cruise rate for passengers going on Beluga after June 1st, 2008. Date shown on the communication for the enforcement fo such measure.
As a consequence of this new disposition, we have established a surcharge of US$250 per person per week for FIT's or US$3700 for weekly charters on Beluga.
Since the fuel consumption of Cachalote I falls below this range, her operation cost will not be altered by this disposition.
We will send information updates in case of amendments to this project of law before its official publication.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding of this totally unexpected situation.
Regarding the newly implemented Galapagos Transit Control Card, please note that for over three weeks we have been asking clients to pay the amount of US$10 to us as soon as they got to Quito so we could prepay for the card on their behalf and spare them the long queues at the airport, whenever possible.
In the near future, however, we will try and include this amount in our invoices to the tour operators so we can pay INGALA in advance for the whole group on board each departure.
We hope this will be fine with all of you.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions

February, 2008 – Climate Update
Dear Friends,
We have received report that for the last few days, the weather in Galapagos has been changing abruptly and it is getting unusually rainy and windy. The occasional rainfall that could be expected at this time of year is significantly more intense so it would be advisable for clients visiting the Galapagos within the coming days to get some waterproof garments and shoes.
As a general recommendation, please inform all clients that a similar situation is being suffered on the mainland with heavy rainfall in the whole country and very low temperatures in the Andes highlands. More affected areas of the coastal region are severely flooded at the moment, which might cause delays on ground or even air transportation.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions
February, 2008 – Galapagos Transit $10 Card & Yellow fever vaccination
Dear friends,
As per previous communications, a couple of months ago, the government of Galapagos implemented a transit control card for travellers to the islands. They have, since then, been giving out these cards to travellers upon arrival in Galapagos, already filled with the information provided by us in advance, at no cost for the visitors during a trial period.
At this moment, we have been notified that starting next Wednesday 20th February, all travellers to Galapagos will have to pay the established amount of $10 p/p in the airport of Quito, before boarding the aircraft, and will receive their actual card upon arrival in Galapagos. Again, as this is a new regulation, we will have to wait until Wednesday to confirm whether travellers to Galapagos are actually requested to pay this amount or not, but would appreciate you update your future clients on this situation.
On a different subject, we have received notification from one of the lodges we normally book for our clients in the Ecuadorian Amazon region, that the Ministry of Public Health is issuing a new regulation by which all visitors to this area will be asked to present their Yellow Fever vaccination certificate upon their arrival in this area. According to the information received, this is a step taken to prevent spreading of this disease from neighbouring countries in the Amazon Basin, which have reported cases of Yellow Fever in their territories.
As usual, we will greatly appreciate your cooperation so as to inform all clients visiting the Ecuadorian jungle of this new regulation that will become effective as of March 2008.
We will continue to send reports on the above matters as we receive updates from official sources.
Sincerely,
Enchanted Expeditions.
